3. What is counselling?

thoughts  counselling Counselling is when you can speak about what is on your mind.

It is a time when you can think about what has happened to you in the past, and see if it is affecting how you feel now.

A counsellor will not tell you what to do.
They will help you find out what you think and feel. They will help you decide what is best for you.

4. How will I feel when I have counselling?

meeting Talking to someone you trust about a problem will usually make you feel better. Sometimes talking about difficult things can make you feel sad or angry.

If you keep talking though, things can get better, and you can feel better about yourself.

5. What happens if I want to come to Respond for counselling?

Your Social Worker, Key-worker, parent , carer or Advocate will get in touch with Respond. We will ask you to come and have a meeting.

At the meeting we will decide together if Respond is the best place for you to come to. You will also be able to see the building.

6. Who else will know what happens in my counselling sessions?

discreet Counselling is private and confidential.
You can talk to other people about what you talked about, but your counsellor will not tell people about what you have said.

But, if you tell your counsellor that you are being hurt by someone, or that you have done something to hurt someone else, we may have to tell other professionals.

talkThis is so that we can get help for you and to make sure that people are safe. We will talk to you about this before we talk to anyone.
There will also be regular meetings where we can talk about how your sessions are going and if they should carry on. This is a chance for you to say what you want to happen.
